Transition Academy Social Club

Having an active social life and maintaining friendships are essential for living a happy life. We all value spending time with friends and enjoying our favorite activities. In addition, social interactions help teach vital life skills in a fun and interactive way.

At PA Inclusive, we know how important it is for everyone in our community to get these important social interactions. This is why we’ve created our Transition Academy Social Club to give high school students with disabilities an inclusive outlet to socialize, make memories, and develop life-long skills.

Socialize and Learn New Skills at Transition Academy Social Club

Transition Academy Social Club provides a fun way for high school students with disabilities to spend time with their peers and enjoy interactive activities and conversations. Our program brings young adults together for engaging sessions covering a range of topics and helps them develop new skills to achieve their goals.

Some of the goals of our Social Club include:

  • Increasing self-advocacy by focusing on knowledge and skills relevant to disability awareness, transition process, and employment.
  • Teaching independent living skills relevant to daily living in our community.
  • Preparing for employment by covering knowledge and skills relevant to workplace readiness.

This innovative program is available in all six service regions – Pittston, East Stroudsburg, Reading, Bethlehem, Columbia, and Nesquehoning – for students aged 14 and up. Transition Academy Social Club consists of three 10-week session modules spread out over 10 months. Students can look forward to a weekly 2-hour session once a week to gather, get to know one another, and grow their abilities and confidence along the way.

Refreshments will be provided, and each participant will receive a course kit with the program’s materials and a t-shirt.
